Samsung forum: Netflix streaming on Samsung TV

it says that Netflix is available, but I dont see it on the widget gallery, just blockbuster... I have a Samsung series 8000 55" connected to the internet.

Can anyone help me with this?

I too got the TV assuming the Netflix was available and am seriously considering whether to return it .

I saw this new release from samsung - and it is pretty clear that they say that netflix is available .

It seems to be that the 2010 lineup will include additional internet@tv functionaility. I'm wondering if this is just a firmware upgdate that can be applied to existing models or something that is exclusive the 2010+ lineup? Do the new models have additional processing power for the internet@tv service? I had read some reviews that claimed the menus were a bit sluggish.

I'm considering buying a LN46B650 and am on the fence as to whether I should pull the trigger and get it or hold out for the LN46C650 series. It's unclear exactly what improvements there are in the "C" series over the "B" series.

Samsung will off the new APP store on the 2010 line-up only......in order for customers who have bought Samsung TVs in years past and want to get this new APP store on their TV they will need to buy a 2010 TV or a 2010 Blu Ray player (BDC5500, BDC6500, or BDC6900) and they can access All-Share (DLNA) and the new APP store through the Blu Ray player wired or wireless.

Same problem Netflix app on Samsung Series 7 3D, the app requests a software update, it says "go to Menu, Support and Software Upgrade" the problem is there is no such directory.
The Menu for the TV has no entry for Support or Netflix Software Upgrade.
I will appreciate any help in configuring this Netflix app for this incredible TV

After talking to 10 different people at Samsung support center, Best Buy Geek squad, Netflix instant streaming specialists and Costco Media support, I found THE answer.

Some of the models that Samsung is currently selling including mine (UN40C6400) do have the Netflix App installed and ready BUT the firmware doesn't support the streaming. That's why when you try to open the Netflix app you get "Please update software in order to enjoy some of our new and exciting features or Apps. Simply go to MENU, SUPPORT, and SOFTWARE UPGRADE".

If you try to upgrade the firmware under "menu/support/software upgrade" ("support" is last under "Menu", it is hard to notice), the TV will say "No software to upgrade currently". That's because Samsung haven't released a new firmware that support Netflix yet. So hang on guys!!!

I have a Samsung Blu-ray hooked up and the Netflix app works great. Samsung will be upgrading the television software in the next couple of weeks I assume. It's not worth taking the tv back just because the app software isn't ready yet. But, Samsung really blew it when telling customers that the app did work on the new TV's when it really doesn't, yet.

I just bought a Samsung model LN46C670 from Best Buy on the 18th of this month. After hooking it up and getting everything set up, I did a software update for Internet@tv and for the firmware on the TV (both had updates available). The Netflix widget works fine for me, started streaming movies last night and I love it! So possibly Samsung just posted firmware updates recently to allow streaming for the other 2010 models too.

The only thing I'm having trouble with and haven't found answers to is whether the Netflix streaming includes 5.1 audio. I have the optical cable hooked up from the TV to my home theater receiver, but the only option available on the TV while streaming is PCM output. Any ideas?

Where did you find the software and firmware upgrade? The samsung website doesn't even recognize my tv's model number.

I have a UN46B7000 and it seems that Samsung has given up on the 2009 models and is pushing the 2010 model updates. To anyone who purchased a 2010 model don't get your hopes up to have updates anytime after end of 2010. Samsung seems to not care about its past customers and lets just say they won't have me as a future customer anymore. Samsung abandons customer servers after just one year, that's not right IMHO.

I spend a lot of money on my TV when it was released with promise of great widgets and netflix streaming on the 2009 series had i know any better I would have went with an LG

I have the Samsung LN46c650 it was listed as being able to play Netflix on the internet@tv so I got the $80 wireless dongle.Having Netflix myself this was one of the main selling features. What a surprise to find out you have to update the firmware for the widget to work. No biggie except that Samsung has no updates for that available .And when I called no time could be give when it may be available . From the sound of this forum many of you have been waiting quite awhile for this update. Samsung really needs to change the advertising so others don't get sucked in with this advertising.

I am also experiencing the same problem. I do believe though that
Samsung will release the new firmware with netflix and lot more apps
very soon. This is their chance to penetrate the 3D TV market.

When you buy the Samsung linkstick aka wireless dongle you will be able to connect your TV to your wireless network. Once you have downloaded the Netflix application in "Internet@TV" you will be able to stream selected movie titles through the APP. You will select "already a member" and it will give you a code on the TV. Then log into your Netflix account via your computer or laptop and enter the code under the streaming tab.

Then you're all set....any movies in your que that can be streamed instantly will show on your TV in the Netflix APP.

do not say what you do not "know"! My gf just got a new samsung and it has the internet...but the update is NOT available. ALSO a HUGGE selling point for her. We're going back to the store to pickup some missing parts from another item and we're definately going to address this issue!!!
