BD-P3600 Network Problem - Incorrect user id or password

I have the BD-P3600 Blu-ray player and have been able to connect to the internet/network (network tests work; I can see the name of my computer; it show a list of shared folders), however when I try to go into a shared folder I get an error saying "incorrect user id or password"...

Any advice on what the problem is and how to fix it?

I have the same problem with the BD-P3600. It connects to my PC fine but will not accept ANY user name or password. I noticed you said a new thread will be posted next week??? Please help!

I also had the same problem after the upgrade.
The work around is using the manual setup instead of the automatic.
The user name or password worked OK

I found the fix 3600

Thanks! I had also found the fix on the web.(Came from Chris Boylan, Editor, Big Picture, Big Sound)One would think Samsung would put a simple message on their FAQ site. Looks like you have to really consolidate your shared files on ONE drive. You have to reconfigure each folder (one at a time) each time you want to find it. It will not recognize various drives unless you tell it to in advance. I hope our two replies will be helpful to others. Have a GREAT DAY!

upgrade issues

Any other issue I found is that the other network CPU's that where originally setup through the " Automatic " detection still work.
I did not not need a user name or password to get access. The CPU that I am have problems with did work before the upgrade.
Sometimes when a CPU is not found, you must(for some odd reason) restart that computer

Has this problem been resolved yet. I have tried manual configuration but to no avail my samsung still believes I have given incorrect user and/or password info. My network check in setup confirms that all is working well.

I have no problem with the manual setup. Auto. still does not work
You have to make sure the network name , etc. does not have spaces or odd characters. See other threads & the manual for specifics.

Still a problem for me...

Some people seem to be replying in regards to setting up the BD player to access the home wireless internet connection. That is not a problem for me - it can access the internet, download updates, down load BD-Live content. What it cannot do is access shared folders on my computer. It can see them, it just won't connect or see inside them - thus the invalid user id or password. Not sure what the problem is as the folder does not even have a password on it! Does it want the windows login username and password? Again, my user login does not have a password... Any feedback?

I just purchased a BD-P3600, and would be very interested in more specifics on how the network sharing is supposed to work. I use Mac OS X (10.5), and have been able to connect to my SMB shared folder using the Manual connect process, but even though the Automatic process can see my Mac, it won't display any of the SMB-shared folders I created. And if I click on the computer icon it asks me to authenticate, but it won't accept the same user/pass combination that works in Manual mode. I do have guest access enabled to SMB, but nothing I seem to do allows auto to work as described in the 1.0 manual. Seems as though other have problems with Auto mode. Has anyone gotten Auto mode to work?

Speaking of the manuals: I notice that a version 2.0 manual is posted on Samsung.com for the BD-P1600, will there be a corresponding 2.0 update to the 3600's manual?

Update for BD-P3600 Fireware 2.04 c/w Xp-PC

Found out a few intesting items.
1) use the wired network connection. Wireless sometimes freezes up.

2)The DVD unit will only locate one network cpu at a time. It seems the first CPU turnrd on is located .

3)Auto function worked on one CPU "A", but not CPU "B".CPU "B" can only be connected manually. As mentioned in my eariler thread, the auto function on CPU "B" did not except the password or login ID.
Passwords on both have differant lenghts & are made only from Alha & numeric characters. It is either lenght combination or security protocals. Will advise after some testing

4) I am finding out after upgrade 2.02 & 2.04 we are have video & audio delay problems on some DVD's that previouslly worked.These still work on my old DVD player. I see others are having the same issue

Couldn't connect to the internet although blu-ray could see my router and other routers in the area. Double checked security key (I thought)and spent hours researching the issue. Finally identified my error and the simple solution - in the security code screen there are two areas to select the alpha letters, one for upper case and another for lower case. Security keys are case sensitive. I was selecting the upper case rather than lower. Hope this helps someone else!
