I purchased a 50" Samsung Plasma around Christmas for the living room.
I purchased a 32" Samsung LCD last week for the bedroom.
While both have their pros and cons, I think plasma is the better choice. The colors look warmer and the contrast is a lot better. The viewing angle is vastly superior. Also, no image blur. To date, we have had zero issues with burn-in and that is including playing video games on it.
The LCD is brighter, runs a lot cooler, and is thinner in profile. I have noticed some image blur during very quick movements. It also needs to be viewed straight on, or the picture doesn't look to good.
I'd say if you're planning to get a screen under 40, you don't have too much choice...LCD it is! If you're looking over 40, will you be watching sports or playing video games? Yes = Plasma (or absolute top of the line LCD), No = Next Question. Will the room be primarily bright or dark? Bright = LCD. Dark = Plasma.
And you can't go wrong with Samsung, no matter which you choose.
