FIRMWARE UPGRADE FOR SAMSUNG DVD PLAYERS

Samsung DVD players and recorders including Blue Ray sold in Singapore are code free, however be aware as upgrading player firmware will remove code free feature and will revert the unit to original code 3? I have contacted Samsung and asked them if after the upgrade they will correct my player and fix regional code ... but no one wants to answer this. The closest answer I got ... if your player is still on waranty bring to our service ...

I think that if Singapore site post firmware upgrade than it shoud keep my player code free...

Region free?

Hi,
I have recently purchased a BD-P3600 and have many region 1 and region 2 disks. I really don't see the point to regions, why should manufacturors conform to Hollywood's greed? just sell all players like they do in Singapore... region free (rant over)

How viable is it to upgrade the firmware on my player to the Singapore spec, and would it have an English option for all the menu's (I only speak 2 languages... English and bad English)

My player is as follows

S/W: BEv2.05_091015A_XEF
Loader: LDv1.00_090307
Region: B/2 (BD?DVD)

BD-p3600 Region lock

Please help!! (or point me in the right direction). I imported a Samsung Blu-ray player from the USA to South Africa (not thinking of the consequences of course), only to find out that the player is region locked for region 1.
I have unsuccessfully tried:
all the hacks I could find on the internet
talking to Samsung USA support
talking to Samsung South Africa support
taking the machine to service centres in South Africa.

Could you PLEASE assist me in letting me know how I can change the players region to region 1 or make it region free?

I would really appreciate it since I paid a lot of money to buy, ship and import the player into South Africa (it has great features not found in South Africa), but now all that money spent seems wasted because the machine is useless to me now.
