42inch Plasma Model = HP-S4253 has sound but no picture now

ive had this tv almost 2 years and this is the second time it has broke now... first time it was having some wierd blue pixils in the lower right corner of the picture it was under warrenty then. it came back somewhat now but its not under warrenty now and its not really that bad compaired to what it used to be u really dont notice it.

now yesterday i had the tv on and was out of the room i came back and the picture is out but i have sound. ive tired turning it off for a while and unpluging it but no change. when i turn it on the screen doesnt flash or anything its like it was never turned on. can anyone help me figure out what actually broke or how i can fix it??

sorry i meant the pixils were in the lower left corner not the lower right

chrisirwin1810,

I apologize for the delay of a response. I was in meeting last week and pinned a notice at the top of the threads to announce that.

Often times when a screen goes black and the sound continues, it's a handshake issue with the cable box. Next time, try turning off the cable box and turning it back on. In most cases, the copy protection in the boxes is set high, and as a result, it keeps the picture from coming through occasionally. Turning off the box will reset the connection and should give you normal picture from then out.

its not the cable box. i switch imputs to either my computer that is also pluged into it and my xbox360 also and it still doesnt show anything screen never even flickers when turned on makes all the sounds it normaly does when starting though the blue light goes off it just never comes in except for sound u can hear the cable the xbox and all that to when u do switch inputs still.

chrisirwin1810,

I'm not sure what would be causing that issue. If the screen is just not showing any picture whatsoever, it may be that the board behind it is malfunctioning. I wish I had a better diagnosis for it, but without looking at the unit myself, it's hard to determine from here.

Y/Z board

I had a similar problem on my LG 42PC3D-UE, and the culprit was a bad Z sus board. It can however be a couple different boards so i would advise seeing a professional or if you are a DIY-er then test the fuses on each board under 200 ohms on a power meter. a bad fuse will mean a broken board in most cases.
