Intermittant lost of HDMI signal to TV

I have a Samsung LN46A550 TV and a Samsung DVD/VCR combo, DVD-VR375. My cable box (Fios) is connected to HDMI 1 on the TV, an LG home theater is connected to HDMI 2 on the TV and the Samsung DVD/VCR is connected to HDMI 3 (video out on the DVD/VCR) on the TV. Anynet is turned on and the TV sees all my attached devices.
Here is the problem. When using my Samsung DVD/VCR it seems that every few minutes (not all the time but often) the TV loses the HDMI signal from the DVD/VCR and displays the message "searching for signal" and then the signal comes back again a few seconds later. I've tried switching HDMI cables, switching HDMI ports on the TV but nothing works.
I read somewhere that using component cables stops this problem but won't I lose the upgrade features on the DVD recorder if I use component cables?
Also, why does the TV, when checking "sources" show my attached DVD/home theater devices as both HDMI 2 and 3 respectively and also as Anynet devices? Is there any difference?
