If it's cutting off the "N", it may still be in a zoom mode - either on the television or from the cable box. That said, it does seem strange to me that it's not cutting off the E on the opposite side if it's in a zoom mode.
As far as your digital camcorer, there are usually aspects that you can film in - many camcorders on the market today will offer 4x3 (which will display on your television with black bars on the side) or 16x9, which should either fill the screen or have minor, smaller black bars on the top and bottom.
If you're doing playback of already-recorded content, it will display the way you recorded it, and there's not much you can do to change that. So there may not be a way to necessarily output that so that it fills the aspect ratio of the screen on playback. I might suggest checking your recording aspect ratio setting to see what the recording format is. 16x9 will better fill your screen.
