Samsung forum: White Dots on Samsung DLPs

I see that you just had your HLT5676SX/XXA (which is the same TV that we have) fixed after having white spots appear. I am still getting the run around and being told by Samsung that we'll have to pay an $85 trip charge for their repair people to diagnose and fix it. They are now saying that the chip is not defective-after clearly telling us on our first call that it is a covered repair.Can you tell me more about your experience?

My transaction # is 2013708958. Was told my white dot problem was not something Samsung would pay to fix. I disagree. Each day there is another white dot on the screen. I feel that Samsung should honor their product and repair a known problem.

Well I do not know what you did but I received a phone call today from Samsung and a repairman is coming out next week to repair my DLP television. Thank you very much. Your extra help has restored my faith in the system.

This post is to thank you again for the assistance and to let folks know to keep pressing and with the right help you can get your DLP fixed properly. This online ambassador was amazing. I called the Samsung repair line and they basically said yes we know the dots are a problem but your model is not covered on the recall. So I found this forum and posted my transaction number and was pleasantly surprised when Samsung called and said that the repair was covered. When the repair man came yesterday he said that he sees the white dot problem all the time so it is not just an isolated issue. So keep up the fight and hopefully the Samsung ambassador can help out. It worked for me and it made my week. Thank you again.

Seems that I am not the only on with this same problem. My dots started appearing very slowly over the last 3 weeks. I already had 3 dots when I noticed them on my screen. Over the past 3 weeks the 3 dots have gone to 35 dots. Last night when I went to bed there were 9 today 35. The problem is progressively getting worse. I got on line and started looking to see if I could find this problem in certain models with certain serial numbers. The more that I researched the more I noticed that it's in all DLP TV's, various models. Being that the dots have more than doubled over night, I decided to call Samsung. I reached Claude in Customer Service and to no surprise, I was told the exact same thing like so many other Samsung DLP TV owners. I was told my model was not covered. I read to make them look by the serial number as well. I did that and was told it goes by both. Claude researched the information that I gave him and ended up telling me that he would exculate it up to the Exc. Customer Relations. I was given a transaction # 5101926119 and told that I would get a call tomorrow. My fear is that I am going to have a huge cost for a TV that I paid over $3000 for. My Tv is now close to 4 years old. I have even changed the Bulb once. I love my tv and do not want to throw it out.... Is there a way to fix the white dots or have Samsung help? model # HLT507SX/XAA

I have escalated to a transaction number two auto service managers as of this evening.

Keep me posted if you hear back, and I'll be happy to do the same on my end if I hear something from the service department.

The Samsung repairman replaced the problem part last night and it fixed the problem. Plus, there's no money out of our pocket since it was the 'known problem'. They skipped the diagnostic test and went ahead and had the part with them so they could fix it in one trip. The repairman said that they have replaced a lot of this particular part. Not really sure where I am suppose to be posting my info. I am just posting in various places to see what kind of help that I can get to get this problem fixed. He then gave me a transaction # 5101926119 and stated that someone from the Exc. Customer Relations Department would call me back tomorrow. I am looking for help. I do not want to go through the same situtations as everyone else and will not... I will take all the actions that are needed to get my TV fixed and that does not include me paying for it as this appears to be a problem for many with this kind of TV. HDTech, need to see if you can help with my situation as well. Own a HLT5076SX that has the same white dot issue like many others posting here. Developed over the last 2 months...started with 1 dot, now around 150-200 white dots. I like Samsung products and have had good exp with them in the past, so I am hoping they help me out with this TV issue to keep a loyal customer.

Called Samsung twice today. Did the diagnostics on second call. Was told that the TV did need to be serviced but that it was out of warranty. So, no help/repair from Samsung. However, the CSR said he would refer it to Exec Customer Relations. I guess that means something?

Anything you can do to help would be much appreciated. Transaction number 3101032147.

Appreciate you moving this up the chain. Talked with an ECR rep today. Said it was not covered in warranty, but if I will pay for a tech to come to my house to diagnose the issue, they would be willing to pay labor and parts if it is a problem with the DMD chip. Sounds like it will be fixed at no charge to me, but will have to wait on the tech's diagnosis. I'll let you know how it goes from here...

I know I would not be this far along without your help HDTech, so thank you very much!

Thank you samsung. The tech came out today and fixed the tv in 20 min. It looks good as new. Thank you samsung hd tech and sandy with samsung 800 for all of the help. Good luck others.

how do i join the laws suite. cause i am getting no respone on how to fix my problem. my tv is only 2 years old.
