Samsung Series 7 LCD brand new---broken!!!

I purchased a Samsung Series 7 LCD on October 18, 2008. The other day while watching a football game, the right side of the TV went to vertical colored lines, green, pink, blue, red, yellow, etc.....The lines are in clusters of about 1,2inches and then there is black between each set of clusters. The lines run completely vertical and only allow you to see the left half of the screen. I called Samsung a week ago when this happened and they told me a service person would call me. When I didn't hear from the service people I called Samsung back and got the number to call myself. They are based in Providence Rhode Island and I live in Connecticut. They proceeded to tell me that I needed to send them a picture of the screen so they could see what the problem might be. I reminded them that I was the customer and they were the service people. I don't think I need to send them a picture, I think they need to send someone to look at it!! Its been a week and I did hear from some guy in West Hartford, CT who told me that he was waiting for parts and he'd call next week!! I'm not too impressed with the customer service so far and would like to know if this problem is common with the Samsung TV's. The model # is ln46a750r1fxza and seriel # is alau3cnq801734j. Any advice would be appreciated.
