humming issue on speakers fix?

I have been reading a lot of threads about speaker hum on tv and surround sound systems. I don't know if this goes in this forum but I had this issue with my samsung 58 inch plasma and I found the issue and now I am very pleased with my tv. The hum that I was having was constant and found to be a 60hz hum from my cable company this can also happen with satellite and ant. Try unhooking your coax from whatever video source you are using at that set and see if it goes away. If it does you need to ground your source at entry of your house and you should have happy viewing on your samsung tv.

Your post was very helpful. My new Samsung LN52A850 had a bad humming sound. I unhooked the cable coax from the STB like you suggested and the hum went away. Then I recalled that a plumber who changed an outside spigot for me took off the cable ground wire. I ran out to the hardware store bought some grounding wire and a ground clamp and regrounded the cable. Wala! no more humming!

60Hz hum on surround sound speakerrs

Thx Jay!!!!!! I've been having the same problem and it is driving me nuts! It only happened when I turned up my Sub. I thought it might be something plugged in that didn't have the third ground line in it. Now my only prob. is how to ground my cable at the outlet.There is a power outlet about 2'6" but I'm sure there is at least one stud between the two. I may just drop a coated copper wire out of the cable outlet and into the power outlet and connect it to the ground in the pwr. outlet. I'll post more if it works or doesn't.
Again, Thanks man! It's a real disappointment when a high-end surround-sound system puts out a horrible hum like that!
