Samsung 850 Series and Banding

My dad just purchased a Samsung 850 52" LCD TV today and with a Samsung Blu-Ray home theater system. Hooked these up to a Monster power conditioner. Worked great for 30 seconds and then ... BAM... serious banding. We unhooked everything as we noticed it viewing TV. We unhooked the conditioner and ran it directly through the HDMI cable and ran a DVD. Still there. It was present in everything.
It was clearly the TV. I ran the diagnostics and it did a quick (and worthless) scan bar test and then promptly told me to contact Samsung.
Well, I already tried everything from resetting to factory and turing it on and off. No avail. The Samsung person told me to unplug it for 30seconds then plug back in. Still there. The rep told me they could send out a tech for a service repair!!! It was just pruchased less than 3 hours prior! For a $4800 system, that's not going very well. I asked if anyone has had any banding issues , to which they replied no.
Anyone else have these? BTW my SONY Z-Series works like a charm, maybe I'll get him to switch it over.

How about an exchange?

Thanks for posting your experience. I'm sorry to hear that it hasn't been resolved to your satisfaction.

If it happened right out of the box, it's possible that something may have happened to the unit during shipment. I might suggest that your dad return it to the store, explain what happened and see if you can get a straight exchange. We certainly don't want you to have a set that has these issues out of the box.

Our service center probably gave you the option to have a technician service call, figuring that you didn't have the ability to return it.

Either way, I want you AND your father to be happy with your purchase. I'll leave that decision to the two of you. happy

I have the same problem as the other people who post. I just bought the TV right out of the box and it has audio but no visual. When you turn the tv on it displays picture for 2 seconds then shuts off and only audio is working. I called the useless techs at samsung and they said to unplug it for 30 seconds and plug it back in. We did this twice with no success. Right out of the box samsung has already failed to produce a quality tv. Before this I had a 50" LCD sony XBR for 8 years and no problems. I am definately not sticking with samsung. All looks no quality. Poor craftsmanship. And right before the superbowl. Maybe you people need to have the quality manager fired.

Lots of us have enjoyed our 52" 850's out of the box. The picture quality is unequaled. And, I'd say that the vast majority experience only fine craftsmanship from Samsung.
