Downloading an entire website

A website I use regularly and subscribe to is going off line soon as the owner is retiring. It contains hundreads and possibly thousands of useful articles which I wish to capture and be able to view offline. Can you reccomend how I can best achieve this please.

There is no simple process for copying an entire website, and it is not always possible to do programmaticly. Even after the website goes offline you may be able to review the content using the Cache links in Google (most extensive), Yahoo, Bing, etc. search results, but your best option is to ask for a copy.

I am using Firefox 3.6 and it I couldn't see an option for saving complete feature.

As far as I can see I have two save types with 4 save options each

Save page as: web page complete + save as html + save text + save all files
Save frame as has the same save options as above?

It's only for the one page...

The "Save Complete" functionality only saves the page you're currently viewing, including the CSS, JS, images, etc files. It does not download all of the content from the entire site, which is the goal in this case since the entire website is going to be discontinued.

Access files directly?

Hi sabaithaime,
John's right if you have a dialog with this person I'm sure if it's going offline then he'd be flattered by the interest.

If he will allow you to access the files directly try using Filezilla (a free FTP program) or the free firefox FTP plugin both are really good.

Thanks for the FileZilla info.
I installed it. Just what I need for FTP, dualWindows format.
But I don't see any option to DownLoad entire site.
Got any Hints?

There is no 'click here' solution to downloading an entire website unless the site's owner gives you one. Just ask yourself "do I know the exact filename and location of every single file on the entire website?" and you'll understand why a program such as FileZilla needs a little help determining what to download.
