Need instant alert of web page change

Is there any software out there that will monitor a web page and give me instant or near instant notice of any changes?? (such as the addition of 1 line of text). We have a client who posts new available assignments on their web site. Once logged in, I can view my account info and any new available assignments.
Any other approved vendor in the area can also view available assignments and depending on how busy things are, these assignments are sometimes available for less than 60 seconds. If they are not claimed in the first 2 minutes, they are emailed to the vendors in the area and rarely last longer than another minute or two. I have a Windows XP laptop with Avant browser constantly monitoring the site with browser set to refresh every 2 minutes. This works fine except that you need to glance at the laptop constantly and it is easy to miss. Is there any software that would give me an audible alert or some kind of alert to my main computer which is running the Windows Vista OS??

So how hard would it to write a script that used wget and then another file compare and when there was a change to beep?

No I am not offering to write your script or even google if your software exists. But it looks like a 30 minute software task.

AlertBox - Firefox Extension

There is a nice tool, it is called AlertBox, it is an Extension for Firefox off course. Just search for it.

A librarian colleague of mine recently suggested the Copernic Tracker. Here is what she says:
