Managing office documents with automatic references

For my job, I am sending a lot of quotation to customers. Quickly, it became a real headache to remember what quote was sent to which customer. This was also the case for all kind of correspondence. There was a need for referencing all these home/office documents.
I created a small application which generated and managed these reference. It was so handy that several colleague started to use it also. From that came the idea of of transforming it into a webware on the internet, for the free use of everybody.
