InstallShield Update Manager

My operating system is Windows Vista HomePremium 32 bit and my browser version is IE9.

When there wa a breech in the security of Java I uninstalled it. During the process I got an error message from the InstallShield Update Manager Error 5.

Can anyone help please?

I'm going to presume this was your thread at the Dell forum. I'm also going to presume, that although the thread has been marked "solved", it hasn't been.

I'm not sure how the InstallShield error relates to the removal of Java. I can't help but (first) ask if you're confident you completely removed Java from your system.

I would suggest running JavaRa. Unzip it and double-click on the JavaRa.exe. It's free and should remove any leftover Java files. If not, the (free) Revo Uninstaller will!

Did you read this from InstallShield? Update Manager Error 5

You asked at the other forum if you 'really need the InstallShield Update Manager'. I can't think of any software which doesn't provide a way of updating. Whether it be automatically or manually. You would be the best judge of how useful the service has been to you. And how much you depend on it. I had it on a Dell machine and never used it. But that's just me.

Carol,

Thank you for responding so quickly. You were right it was me. I am not completely confident in myself and sometimes in the some of the entries from Dell.
I did get this error from the InstallShield. It is scheduled to check once month when it does check the error pops up and when I acknowledge the error it boots up and it lets me check for updates.
