I play a lot of music from you tube or other sites. A sound problem has arisen. The sound is distorted, breaks up stops. It has been suggested that maybe my flash player is the culprit.

I have deleted and re-installed adobe flash player but it does not help. The music I have stored on my computer plays fine.

I am running windows vista home basic 32 bit. I might add that I use Google Chrome, Firefox and IE. I think the IE is version 6 from what I can determine. I don't use IE to often it is slow constantly shuts down.

Appreciate any help

Did you use system restore to the day before?

Also there are reasons for this as the antivirus and windows update do their thing. It usually passes.

No sir I didn't use system restore. I am at a loss on this. I have UN-installed and re-installed the latest version of Adobe flash player. I still get a lot of blips, distortion and freezes. I am about to give up on it.

I do wonder, I know I need more memory which my son is going to install sometime soon. if this might be part of the problem.

I might ask you, when the music I play say from u-tube is it passing through my windows media player?

I have a lot of music copied to my computer and once in a while there are some interruptions but on the whole little problems there.

You mention antivirus and updates, I did shut down my firewall today for a period of time and the music via u-tube played a lot better

Any thing you might help I would appreciate.

No.

Which firewall? There is an odd thing you encounter now and then. Folk are so scared of a virus or something that they will load up the protection and sometimes you find they conflict. Your firewall test tells me you are on to something. Since I can't find a short list of what's running, I can't check it out.

For example a recurring toxic combo was Spybot Teatimer and Norton. There are far too many combos and I don't know them all.

As to RAM, 2GB should be fine.
