Win Vista System Restore

Win VISTA Home Premium

I did a system restore on my desktop computer but it appears to be stuck on "Please wait while you Windows files and settings are being restored, System Restore is initializing"....

It has been stuck on that screen for over 35 minutes. It has NEVER taken this long before. The HD light indicator appears to show no activity as it's not blinking.

Can I try to reboot the system?

After being "stuck" for just about an hour, system restore finally completed. It's NEVER taken that long before, I wonder what coult have been the problem.

But there are KNOWN reasons. The most famous is when you have more than one security app installed. These apps cause a conflict where some file is opened and the first app kicks in and checks that file. The second app sees the file being checked and then checks the file again and checks out the first app checking the file. It's dog slow.

Teatimer also caused issues like that.

Folk have been so scared of the malware and more they make mistakes and install more than one real-time security product. It's a shame it came to this.

The other reasons are full hard drives and failing drives.
