Windows Vista forum: Why can't I find files on Desktop?

I did the F5 key, but it didn't change the problem.

Also, I sent every video file to documents. Then, I double-checked that they were in Documents. (Thank you for telling me not to save them to Desktop.)

However, when I browse to upload to a website, I don't see all of my Documents listed. Nor do I see all of my Desktop files listed. This did not used to be a problem, but now it is.

Disheartened. Do you know what the problem could be?

What program are you using to upload your files? Could the video file format possibly not be compatible with the upload program?

I am an actress and am listed on 800 Casting. The video reel formats are compatible with what 800 Casting requires. And I've successfully uploaded before.

It's just really strange that when I browse (recently) from 800 Casting, I can't find all my files. Many things on my Desktop don't show up in the browsing; nor do many of my files in Documents.

Why would only some files be seen and not others?

In Windows Explorer go to the Users folder. Try checking each User folder's Desktop for your files.

I did find all my files when I'm just browsing on my computer. Everything is there.

The problem is that the whole view changes when I'm coming back to my computer through 800 Casting. Does that make sense what I'm trying to say?

AHA. Yes that makes sense since a lot of what happens over VPN (sorry but it is technical) means that some files won't show or won't show until we reboot. Even then it's not a sure thing.

This is not a Windows issue so 800 Casting needs to help you.

From 800 Casting, I learned I had to click "all files," and that showed me all my files.

There were still problems with the video uploading. An 800 engineer looked at the file. It had a virus!

Honestly. Don't know how this could have happened. The filming took place in my professional audition class. The audition tape was e-mailed to me. I put it in my AVS software to edit. Those are the only places this tapes saw.

Is AVS safe to use?

Sorry but there are dozens of antivirus suites today. I can't keep them all handy but a virus is not unheard of when it comes to networking issues. It's pretty rare to see it be so specific in the failure and not show up as other odd things going on.

That is, if you had written about pop-ups and porn showing up then I would think to scan for pests.

Let me share a CLOUD SCANNER I use from time to time when I just need a scan but don't want to install an antivirus.

I have McAfee on all the time, and it shows no problems.

AVS is a video editing software that someone recommended to me. I downloaded it a long time ago, and it's never given me a problem.

It seems the problem is with the actual video file.
