AVG vs McAfee

I've been using AVG ((free) but I can also get McAfee free since I have my internet from Cox Communications. I would like to ask the community which program is better before I switch. Pros and cons. Thank You.

Both don't offer total protection. None do that. How to measure which is better at this price?

For my money... AVG stopped being good around version 7.5, and McAfee long before that. So, AVG is probably the least bad option between the two.

have their strengths and weaknesses.

Unless you are having issues with your AVG, personally I would be reluctant to change. It means completely uninstall one before attempting to install another. Not always an easy task.

One other thing. Is this McAfee free forever? Or is it some free trial offer which you then have to purchase after a year or so, or when you change ISP's?
