Vista Install(no Disk)

I've been trying to hold off from posting here for quite a while, I hate bothering people because I can't think through something. My issue is the following, I had a Presario C700 I was asked to replace the HDD and put a fresh copy of Vista home premium on it.
I downloaded a copy of a Vista bootable ISO(Before I get warned or kick, he has a valid copy of Vista he no longer has the CD. I have the product key.)I made my bootable DVD, if asked I can provide steps I used, but when I go to install it cannot locate the NTLDR.
Then I thought to plug his disk into my PC, used DaemonTools to install, however on restart after installation is complete and remove the harddisk I have two Vista installs on my PC and one is unusable.
If anyone can think of something to remedy this, or have any questions that you need to ask of me before assisting please ask away. I'm trying to get this working for a fellow soldier before he transfers out of my unit. Thank you all in advance.
