Adobe reader tries to open all of my programs and shortcuts!

I'm running Vista, and whenever I try to open any program, adobe reader tries to open it and then says it can't cause it's not a suppoted file or it is damaged. Any help would be awesome.

Hi, To change how a program opens, right click on the program or file click open with... then select the software you want the file or program to open with.

Adobe Reader

I am also running Vista and now when I try to open things up I get the message that Adobe Reader could not open different applications. So, I was advised from computer support to remove the application and go to cnet and get a free Adove Acrobat Reader and download it to my computer. When I download it and then try to run the Adobe Reader I get a message that says Adobe Reader could nt open 'acrobatreader-pppcorm(1).exe' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged...

Could you please advise me.
