Windows DVD Maker and then trying to save files to Hard Driv

Operating System - Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit edition. Model # a6648f.
I use Windows DVD Maker and make my slide and videos and then burn on a DVD. Problem comes (with some of my files) when I try to save them to my Hard Drive and then TRY TO VIEW FROM THERE!!!! After many many hours I finally got them all so I could view right from my Hard Drive and the only thing I can think of is that 3 of these files I had renamed and put in the & (and sign). I renamed without the & sign and now I have them working but after many hours of trying! Would the & sign really have been my problem? Are there any simple procedures I can use to do this? Oh, I could not save these files but had to copy and paste.

Windows doesn't like the "&" in file names. Yes that was clearly your problem. No way around that other than to spell it out as "and" in the file name.

The ampersand (&) IS allowed in filenames, as Windows treats it just like any other non-reserved character. Specific applications, on the other hand, may not treat it as a valid filename character, which may include the original poster's default movie player.

Ardath: Could you clarify what you mean by "I could not save these files but had to copy and paste?" In order to copy-and-paste file file, it must already have been saved, so I am unclear as to what you mean.

Hi John: Thanks for your reply to my question. When I say I could not save these files I meant that I had already burned them to a DVD and I then wanted to Save them from the DVD to my Hard Drive. At this point when I clickedc on FILE or right Clicked on my DVD there was no offer to save or save as. By right clicking on the DVD, I was offered Copy which is what I had to do and then I pasted it to my Hard Drive.
