"More than one active network connection"

After having my networking setup function normally for about a month or so since I got a new router, I suddenly lost my connections and this message comes up in the network and sharing center: "There are more than one active network connections on this computer." I have a Linksys WRT54GL wireless router connected to my Dell Inspiron 518 through a local area connection and am using a Motorola Surfboard modem on another local area connection. The only way to resume my internet connection is to unplug the network cable from the wireless router. I didn't change any settings or anything to cause this to happen, any advice?
