Windows Vista forum: Program files full

Program files full

When I go to Start, Programs, I have so many programs that I cannot read the right hand side completely. This happens to be where the Windows programs reside. Is there a way to rearrange of make print smaller? I know I should get rid of some programs but this is a last resort!

Vista or XP

GWB, before I suggest anything I just want to verify that this is Vista that you are using because it sounds quite a bit different than my setup and reminds me more of XP's Start Menu. When I click Start I see only the 9 most recently used programs, my default e-mail and Internet programs as well as the All Programs option. Below those is a box that says Start Search. These are all located on the left-hand side of the Start Menu. The right-hand side has 12 different options. On the right-hand side do you see Computer or My Computer as one of the options?

Yes running Vista

WHn I click start, I do see Programs, Favorites, Documents, Settings, Search....and when I click on the arrow to the right of programs all of the programs come up but there are so many that I cannot see the right hand side. That is, they are cut off. I have a screen capture in Word that I can send. Could figure out ho to do it here...Thanks for the effort

GWB, are you able to see the Run command? If so then click it and type in "control sysdm.cpl" without the quotes and then press Enter. If something comes up that shows System, let me know what is listed there (note: you will have to type it into your post).

I believe that we are unable to upload files on these boards for security reasons so that is why you were unable to do so with your screen capture.

One other thing to try

Right-click (notice that I said right-click and not click) on the Start button and choose Properties. If you see the two options Start Menu and Classic Start Menu then see if Classic Start Menu is selected (i.e. has a blue dot next to it). If it does then select Start Menu and then click OK to see if this changes things. Vista by default does not have the flyout menus, where the menu expands across the screen, but the Classic Start Menu option may do just that.
