Windows Vista forum: Missing file problem anyone?

In Word 2007, just click the Office Orb in the top left corner, then select the document from the list.

A few weeks ago saved a word document, then couldn't find it. Today I find it in the exact directory I thought I'd saved it in and had previously searched in. So I open it, made some changes and saved and closed it again. Also saved another new word document in the same directory.

Then later in the session tried to reopen both files and they are not showing in the directory. I can search and find them in Recent Items (C:\Users\Rob\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows) and in my Recent items list off the Start button, but in both cases the file is not found when I try and open from there. They are not in my Word recent list because I have opened other files since closing them.

Any ideas? this is ridiculous.

When you look at the directory where you think you saved the file(s) you may see "Compatibility Files" in the menu - click this and hey presto there are the missing files - in my case at least.
More Vista crap...

Did you ever figure out a solution to this problem? I'm having the same problem now...

This happened to me twice. I didn't record delete any of files in both folder, and yet they disapper all of a sudden. Most strange part is folder has some files remain, and remain one is the newly one. Seems like Vista has problem with files saveing system. Both situation happen after I download something. First one is after I save a file into the select folder, yesterday is reverse case, after I choosen not to save to default select folder. And befor I know it, default folder go grudge delete everything I had save there about 4G files and left me with single file 17MB.
