downloading files and Vista

I'm not sure if this is an IE problem, or a Vista problem. But since I can usually trace all my problems to Vista, I'm posting this problem here.

I seem to have lost the ability to download files from Hotmail when I use IE. In the past, I could "save" the file to my Downloads folder, and use my virus scan to scan it before opening it. When I selected "save", IE would prompt me for a file location. Lately however, I'm not prompted, and the file does not download--the screen flashes briefly, then quickly returns to the email message. My only option is to "open" the file from the email--which I don't want to do until I know it's virus-free.

When I read my mail through Mozilla however, I'm able to download the file, and scan before opening, just like always.

Has anyone experienced this?

I'm using Win Vista.

Sorry, not here. But I do know Hotmail is changing and may soon be no more.

While I can offer you should look at your IE addins and try without such as a test the issue is that you have something that works so keep doing that.
