Computer Won't Go Into Sleep Mode!

Lenovo Vista Home Premium 3000K Series.
When I try to put the computer into sleep mode it automatically opens up after about 10 seconds? Please assist with thanks.

Devices and drivers can reply with "can't sleep now" and cause your issue. As noted with only the laptop you listed it will sleep just fine. I've seen it work.

Bob I don't have a laptop, it is a desktop. When I press the sleep button the computer goes off and then comes back on after about 20 seconds.

But it doesn't matter much. Anything from a printer, USB or other device can (in the computer...) say "can't sleep now." The problem is that you have to think about what's plugged in or what software was installed recent.
Limeware and P2P users report this a lot too.
