good day everyone. i have vista home premium and after the computer sits idle for a period of time and then i view a page and scroll down, the page jumps back to the top. if i m even part way down a page and try to click on a link it jumps to the top again. if i try to click on a box that gives a number of options, the box keeps reverting to the default option. rebooting the computer is the only thing that temporarily resolves the issue. as long as i am actively browsing, the problem does not materialize. i have tried running ie7 with NO add-ons and rebooting, but to no avail. i have even tried another browser but no luck. i have avast home anti-virus and run spyware doctor daily along with vista live one-care....thanks for your time and help...dave

I'm beginning to think it's like this issue.

Read http://www.oooforum.org/forum/viewtopic.phtml?t=64295 and I can replicate that behavior in IE. That's not a bug so fixing that one may be impossible. To make matters worse when the afflicted person tries it on any machine "it happens" to them. For me I know the subtle issue that this is and understand why.

It happens to me a lot on a lenovo laptop - any program - temp solution tap the touch pad

I found this answer on another site and
while it hasn't totally eliminated the problem - it has helped. Answer: It kept happening but I got some control over it by blowing around the edges of the touchpad with canned air and then cleaning the touchpad agressively with 99% isopropyl alcohol and a soft lint free cloth. If that makes a noticeable difference then we are on the right track. If the problem becomes unmanageable touchpad replacement may be in order. Let me know if this helps. If you need further solutions I will research further and post as data becomes available.
