Windows Vista forum: 2 questions...

2 questions...

First of all, does Daemon Tools work well for intalling 5536? Secondly, I tried installing Vista 5438 last night using daemon tools, and it got all the way to the completing upgrade step and just sat there.....i eventually had to reinstall xp....any ideas what I am doing wrong in installing 5438? And should I turn off my firewall/antivirus when I install?

For windows xp it recomends turning off your firewall so when installing vista thats what i did aswell. Try and see to be sure.

* Instead of burning a DVD I used Daemon Tools to install build 5536 and the process was successfully completed.

* A faulty upgrade could be a result of a number of things, including software running in the background (you should disable all unnecessary startup items and end any running programs) and connected peripherals (try disconnecting printers, scanners, etc). It can also be a simple glitch that will not pose a problem on subsequent attempts.

If you can't do an upgrade, though, try a fresh installation. For me that has resolved the occasional problem where the process cannot complete.

Many times you get a corrupt or incomplete download.
This has happened to me so I will wait for RC1 as preview is now closed:)
