HP's OfficeJet 6310xi is not compatible, but...
A person might get by with this very good printer and Vista if you don't count on it for a long time. I'm feeling pretty good to have gotten a couple of years in conjunction with Vista.
When I got my Toshiba laptop a couple of years ago, it did a great job in conjunction with the HP officejet, first with a USB connection, and later within a wireless network.
Approximately a month ago the printer ceased to recognize the computer through the network, and the driver would no longer connect through the network to the printer. Out of frustration I finally took a look at the printer manual again and...oops! Vista isn't listed as acceptable.
I haven't tried to directly connect the computer and printer again, but I doubt it'll be of any value to do so, since the driver software still will not recognize the printer as available. In searching the HP website it's apparent others have had this problem. There even appears to be a patch that implies the HP 6300 series will suddenly and spontaneously disconnect.
Attempting to get that patch, however, is a complete nightmare, and has me thisclose to reinstalling Vista (the 32 bit version Home version).
The comments about HP and their relative incompetence even for a basic illiterate like myself accurately express my dissatisfaction, also. Unfortunately, it looks as those I'll need to find another all-in-one printer, and am approaching the task with a sense of doom and foreboding of further disaster.
Maybe I out to go back to my old XP based laptop!
Anyone having success with finding Certified Vista Compatibles with the latest bunch of multi-functioners?
