Can IPod tablets be hacked?

I know your time is valuable, but I am in the situation of asking for a second opinion. Thank you for your help.
My personal computers have been hacked and I decided to renounce at using computers.
There for, I am thinking about buying an iPod tablet, do not use my email on it (I have another tablet for that, in order to prevent being hacked via an email link), do not allow physical access to my new tablet, connect it to Internet and use Microsoft Office. I am going to have to put data from my new tablet either in Dropbox or on an usb drive, and then transfer them to a computer on my place of work. I will have to install Microsoft Office, Skype, Dropbox and Geogebra. I made some research on the Internet and found opinions that a tablet can and cannot be hacked, and if it can be hacked is through downloading some programs.
Could you please tell me if my new tablet could be hacked? Is it possible that my Skype account is compromised and would allow access to my tablet through using it? Or my Dropbox? I do not think Geogebra is usable as a way to access my new device. Can a tablet be intercepted through using the same usb drive on it and on another computer (assuming the computer will be hacked)?
Thank you again.
