I just used Passbook for the first time on my iPhone 4s and to be honest, I'm pretty impressed. I walked into Starbucks, showed the pass, had it scanned and walked out with a coffee. Cool, but now what?!
Furthermore, I've also been reading some blogs about the actual adoption of these cards by large and small scale businesses and I'm really curious what sort of things other people see Passbook being used for? I read that someone manually converted their IKEA card to a passbook card. Will converting your own cards catch on?
Personally I'd really like this tech to catch on. For instance, it would be amazing to add my Gym Membership card and perhaps the loyalty cards I keep in my wallet to passbook.
So I'm curious, do you think Passbook will catch on in the mainstream? If so, what sort of cards would you you like to have in passbook instead of in your Wallet?

That should word out but NFC is bothersome to me as the security angle is still under debate. Those that sell and pitch NFC tend to be dismissive about the articles on security since they have something at stake.
No I won't be using NFC (ever) but have used the simple barcode and passbook like systems.

Bob, could you expand on NFC security issues a bit? I've worked with NFC technology, and while it has some vulnerability, so does carrying a credit card. Perhaps you've read something I haven't, but personally I find NFC pretty secure.
What more do I need to add?

You wrote it has some vulnerability and we all know about the mother of all Android RootKits (CIQ) so what can I add that hasn't already been written?
Again, those that have a stake in NFC and want to push it will dismiss what's out there and ask folk to add more about the security issues.
I'm just an embedded programmer and more but for now, and how they went about NFC meant a closed development that resulted in something that I will not use when money is involved.

I think Passbook is fantastic too, but I don't think it's going to catch on quite the way Apple might have liked. I personally think that the application is a forerunner to NFC and by design, was intended to kick-start the 'pay with our phone' wave. I'm sure Passbook will still be Passbook, but with NFC in a newer model... so in the end, yes... I believe Passbook will become a success, but as for in the near future... Well I believe that is really relative to where you're geographically 
If I could use Passbook for everything in my wallet I would in a flash. I hate carrying a wallet.
