If you simply bought an Airplay enabled AV receiver, you could stream directly to the AV system that way.

Sure, buying an Apple TV is going to be less expensive, but that wasn't the OP's question, was it?

If he wanted a streamer device w/ Airplay support, there's also the DNP720AE ($499)

Don't try to argue differently, your suggestions are still much more expensive than the Apple TV. No point in arguing your case any further. Sure it can be done with alternative devices, but certainly not any cheaper.

The OP had no query about price. Re-read what the OP posted. He asked about third party options. I gave alternatives which are iOS compatible. Sheesh. You guys need refreshers in reading comprehension perhaps?

It has to be a device which supports the Airplay standard, period. Streaming media from the portable Apple device running iOS is possible this way. That means you could choose either of the devices I mention in my post above, or the Apple TV if you do not need a receiver and want to spend only $99 for this functionality.

Is there any TV that support AirPlay standard ?

I had a client ask me this last week. Wish I could have a crack at one.

Truth be told though, Apple can make more $$ selling their $99 Apple TVs that they produce for much less than they could by licensing Airplay for <$5-10/unit.

IMNSHO some of the lower end, feature driven receivers that support Airplay present the strongest value right now. You just have to be in the market for one, of course . Actually, at least one HDMI port in the front and support for connecting external HDDs via USB 3.0 is what I feel folks may ask for next year (besides better Airplay support).
