You could track it with its GPS. I have read an article before that Apple devices are tracking you every now and then don't know if they already patch it. Ask Apple for support.
Mean while your personal files there, if you don't have a software installed to remotely wipe its content, you must have just installed a security App like File Locker Pro Suite that lets you hide or secure important files and documents.
For now ask apple support team to track it down.
