Alert sounds that don't play

Hello

The alert sounds on my iPhone do not work anymore. I have checked the Sound tool in "General" and changed the alert tones a couple of times but it still doen't work. All I get is the iPhone vibrating.

Do you have any advice to make my iPhone play alert sounds ?

I think this was covered before. A few I ran into, for some odd reason would not talk to Apple about it. They seemed content to ask everyone else.
