If I have a iPad 3,camera connector kit and a hard drive...

The hard drive is one that does not require a power adapter, since it gets it's power from the USB. I have tried to use a hard drive that does require a power adapter, but that did not work. So since the hard drive does not require a power adapter, would it appear on the iPad as just a USB flash drive or something like that. I wanted to be able to carry movies on the road without having to have them on my iPad. I have the movies formatted and named correctly. They would import correctly with a regular 5 GB thumb drive, but i wanted to be able to carry more. Since the external hard drive just has a USB cord, would that be able to import movies into the iPad. I REALLY DON'T WANT TO JAILBREAK! Any help?

You will not be able to use the HD with your iPad.

Although I have seen a couple of reports where this was done successfully, it was a very hit or miss situation.

The camera kit, and the iPad, is not designed to use an external HD, even one that does not have a power adapter.
Those types of HD draw their power from the host USB bus via the USB port, which the iPad does not have. (other than when the camera kit is connected)
There is not enough power there to drive the HD and to allow connection to the iPad.

Why not get a large capacity SD card and use that instead, or as well.

2. A Kingston WiFlyer.

I own both but not the iPad in question.
