You wanted the "i" thing, this is the price
In case it is not obvious I am not a big fan of the "I" products for the very reasons (and a few more) Molly mentions. First I have to say that every vendor must cut the strings to old technology at some point.
The issue here is that the iPhone is all glitz, that's why people bought it in the first place. Argue if you must but functionality was not a major issue in the purchase decision, if it was then I would have to point out that other smart phones have all the features the iPhone has and then some. Yes I will admit that the iPhone has a superior video and touch screen, but that's about it. As far as speech goes others had that before siri came out.
People bought it on the glamour and Apple expected you to upgrade frequently to new devices, I thought everyone knew that, don't complain now. Smart Phone technology is moving so quickly that no matter what device you purchase you can expect it to be completely obsolete in 18 months, Apple, Android, Windows, even Blackberry. But then RIM is a completely different story, that "M" is looking more and more like a "P" everyday.
