virus wiped out contacts from iphone

a virus (eastern european type?) go onto my iphone 4 through my go daddy webmail and wiped out my contact list. Anyone know what this may be and how I should protect myself?

There are no iOS viruses.

Whatever happened to your contacts was caused in some other way.

No virus but when I was in Asia

I was surprised at how many phones are jail broken and folk trade apps like trading cards. Many have malware and strange problems are plentiful.

I'm glad that back home, few jail broken phones and folk seem to be a little more savvy about this.

For jailbroken phones, it's certainly not uncommon. A single bad app can do such damage. Perhaps it's the best thing about (otherwise) being in the 'walled garden'(?)
