...whether or not there are any odd restrictions on your wireless network at work(?)

In various office settings I can't count on my fingers and toes all the times I've had to fiddle with devices just to get wifi to work. Home is normally less industrially protected IME.

....sounds more like an office network issue and not as much of a handset issue. Many advanced office networks limit access to only approved devices.

Thanks for your replies, but the office network has nothing to do with my problem.

I sit in an office where the only "network" is a Wifi-router. Besides, I first noticed the problem when the router was broken and there was no "network" at all. So the problem is not there.

I think that the problem must be somewhere in my computer. I tried turning on the "internet hotspot" of my iphone and the white macbook of a colleague could see the signal from it, but my Macbook pro still can't.

That said, I still think that the strangest thing is the fact that my macbook pro CAN see the signal when I am at home.

Can anyone come up with some kind of lead on how to solve this?
