You obviously have never owned an Apple product. Once you own one, you will say to yourself, "Everything should be made like this! It worked the first time, exactly as it should, and it has continued to work just as well for all the years that I have owned it. And now someone is offering to by it from me for the same amount that I paid for it all those years ago when I bought it!!!"
If you can understand that, you'll understand why Apple users are so extremely loyal!

I was expecting a 4G capable phone, with a bunch of improvements that took it out in front of the competition.
The fact that it is a "World" phone is something that I don't think has been done in the US before though. I could be wrong.

Since there's no LTE(A) radio under the hood on the 4S, it's not _real_ 4G. Sorry. I don't give two hoots if the ITU redefined what 4G service is just to please the carriers either.
ATT should simply keep using the H+ icon like on their other devices to avoid confusion when they roll out LTE service nationally.

I know a user of a Samsung 4.x" screen. That user finds it clumsy as a phone and wishes for an iPhone. I looked closely at these 4+" and concluded little screen space is added, yet the phone is just a bit bulky to pocket and carry.

Obviously you aren't aware that the Samsung 4.3" display has significantly less pixels than the iPhone 3.5" display.
OK you have poor eyesight, so you'll prefer the less data 4.3" display.

everyone keeps talking about an iphone 5 but i dont think there will be one wouldnt it be called the iphone 6 because really the iphone 4s is the 5th iphone.

Apple fans will defend their Apple products to the death, it seems, whether it makes sense or not.

Personally, I have an iPhone 4 *smile*, and really like it. I'm glad that Apple didn't release the killer iPhone, since I still have a year to go. By the time I'm ready for a new phone, the next generation iPhone will be out there. I've already installed iOS 5 and am enjoying the new features of that.

On the other hand, there's nothing wrong with the iPhone 4s. The retina display makes the 3+ inch display very usable. It is a "world-phone", in that it has both CDMA and GSM support, so can be used just about anywhere. For Verizon customers, that's a welcome change. It also has a dual-core processor, so it is faster (same processor as iPad2). While it can support faster data transfers on the AT&T network of just pure 3G, yes, it is not able to handle 4G data transfer speeds anywhere. And you get full use of the new features of iOS 5. Some features were particularly reserved for the iPhone 4s, that's marketing.

Keep in mind that the phones (so far) that can run at 4G data transfer speeds have about 1/2 the battery life of those that can't. And 4G isn't really everywhere yet. So a phone with 4G isn't calling out to me at this point in time. Give it a while and that may well change.

Anyways, if I was waiting for the iPhone 5, I would get the iPhone 4s and be moderately happy *smile*.
