iPhones, iPods, and iPads forum: How do I turn off VoiceOver on iPod touch?

Thank you for getting back to me. You see, that's the thing. I have my iPod Touch plugged in and under the Summary tab there appears the info for the iPod, serial number, version (version 4.2.1) and under that 1 buttons: Check for update and Restore, and under that a box labeled Options which has 5 items:

Open iTunes when this iPod is connected;
Sync only checked songs and videos;
Convert higher bit rate songs to 128 kbps AAC;
Manually manage music and videos; and
Encrypt iPod backup. <div>
That's all except for the capacity gauge at the bottom. Nothing about Universal Access. Now perhaps my iPod software needs to be updated? is 4.2.1 the latest version? I know my iTunes software is up to date (10.4.1). I can't believe that Apple would leave such an annoying feature without a way to turn it off, no matter what version of software. But there you are.

directly underneath the Encrypt iPod backup, I have Configure Universal Access.

My iTunes version is 10.4 (80)

I don't have an iPod handy but in the Summary page there should be a Version section. This should tell you if there is an update for the iPod or not

Perhaps a call to Apple may resolve this issue.

Thanx for trying. My iPod software is up to date. The iTunes software is up to date too, but I had this problem with v 10.4 before I got 10.4.1. Obviously you're using an older version of the software. I believe in keeping up to date but of course things work just fine if you don't. Either Apple has changed the order of its menus or it's just a bug and I'll report it as such. I can't ask any more, I'm grateful for help by people who are donating their time. I just wish somebody somewhere would check out my problem using the same software (the latest version) that I'm using.

and the button is still there.

I've had a similar issue and it got resolved by Apple..
