Iphone 4 weak wifi range

I just got my iphone 4 a few days ago and I can connect to wifi with a good strong signal if I am near the wireless router but the range is very limited. Other friends who got their iphone 4 several weeks ago have had no problem at work or at home. In the areas that I have NO wifi signal, theirs is still getting 2 or 3 bars!

Is there something I'm missing? Or is this a problem with my phone specifically. My wife's iphone 4 also has the same problem as mine and we got ours at the same time.

Any help would be appreciated.

I took it to the ATT store that I bought it from and the rep said I needed to take it to the Apple store. After talking to 3 guys there and waiting in the iphone 4 line for 40 minutes, they set me up at the Genius Bar which I had gone to the first time. I showed them my phone and placed a good phone iphone 4 next to it and mine did not detect any wifi while the good phone picked up 4 wifi networks! Afterwards the apple guy took a look inside the iphone's holes with a miniature otoscope and said that he will exchange my iphone with a new one! It was one from a black box but new and he opened the box in front of me.
Well, everythings okay so far.

Hope this helps others.

I was told that I should mail mine back to apple and therefore have no phone for weeks til they figure out the problem. Any advice?

It is very simple, go to the near iPhone store or if there is not then go online apple store
