Switching computers and Ipod Touches.

I've got a 32GB, 3rd gen ipod touch.

If I upgrade to a new 64GB ipod touch, what stuff will I be able to transfer over (for free, without having to pay for software for that)?
1) settings?
2) Data?
3) Paid shareware apps (without having to repurchase them)?

Is it as simple as docking my new ipod touch and syncing everything?

When I switch to a new computer with Itunes, can I just plug in my ipod touch to sync what's on there onto the new PC?

As simple as docking your new ipod touch and syncing everything.

BUT.
NO, you will NOT be able to just plug in the ipod touch to sync what's on the iPod to the new PC.
Syncing is a one way street. From the PC to the iPod.

There are pieces of software, iRip for one, that will go the other way for you.

Does the iTunes server keep track of purchases?

Does one ever have to worry about maintaining their purchases on iTunes like one would for PC products? For example, if you buy commercial software for PC, it's typically up to the consumer to keep his CDs safe from breakage and not lose his CD/install Key.

Is there this type of maintanence for games, software, and videos purchased on iTunes?

Yes, iTunes keeps track of the tracks and videos purchased on iTunes.

I do know that you can re-download your purchased music but I don't know if the same applies to video and apps.

I just reformatted and read on the itunes webpage that is you do not back up your purchased songs that you will have to rebuy them. I sent all to disc then reloaded. Worked very well, and fast.
