Cnet.com and Download.com spyware/malware website?

Ever since late 2011 cnet.com and download.com along with some other affiliated websites are coming up as spyware, malware, and adware websites on my company's firewall. so when I got home I attempted to goto those websites and it was allowed by my home firewall, until I updated the firmware, and now I am blocked from cnet at home also...
So now I am on my cable internet [not my dsl line] and I am able to connect to cnet again, but I keep getting alerts if I try to download anything from download.com and it blocks the downloads... I am certainly confused.
I read that you now have a spyware installer that software creators can opt-out of, but I am again confused as to why CBS/Cnet would allow such a defilement to be on their website.
Please elaborately explain why this heinous decision has been propogated by cnet and pushed onto your users.
