Cannot open downloads

I have Windows Vista on a Lenovo computer. I had a nasty viris and downloaded AVG free version to clear it up. And it did the job. But now I cannot open most of my downloads. When I try the screen starts flashing. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks, Don

Are you saying that you download a file from the internet, save it to some location, eg your Desktop as a good, temporary, location, then when the download is finished you find the file just downloaded, then click, (or double click depending on your own preferences), and the file doesn't open?

Is that what you mean? And if so, this is the same will all downloaded files?

Then the whole screen display starts flashing. How do you stop that?

Any error messages displayed?

Flashing downloads

Sorry about not getting back sooner. Been moving and finding a job in Gatlinburg, Tn. To answer your question--yes that is what I mean and it does it on all downloads. (e-books) Sometimes it will say, "file not found." Hope my answer helps. Don

eBooks?

I wonder if there is some clue there if it is only eBooks?

What are you using to read eBooks on this system and where do you download the eBooks from?

What about any other downloads, do they have the same effect?

Reading ebooks

I guess I read them from Adobe Reader X. I download them from emails or sometimes I go to a website from the email and download it there. Most are about MLM or network marketing. Don
