Gimp won't work after downloading an update.

I just downloaded an update to Gimp and it now says exception illegal instruction - an attempt was made to execute an illegal instruction. It tells me to click on cancel to debug, but it just turns if off. What should I do, - try to download it again?

I uninstall and reinstall the app then don't take the update.

I thought of doing that, but as I downloaded the program from the web, won't I automatically get the updated version when I try again?
I only did it because CNET sent me a notice that there was an update available.

Not sure if I mentioned the last time that I use Windows XP

At this point I have to defer to the folk that support your machine. I know what I would do and how it often fixes the issue. But this is not a good option for you.

Not sure I understand your reply?? What if I just did a restore on my computer to a date before the upgrade?

i decided to go ahead and uninstall Gimp and then reinstall it. It now works fine. Thanks
