but i wonder if you should be asking the Upload.com team about all this.
Many developers will offer a 'free' version of their software. It is either free because the developer wants to share it with others without any recompense, or it will be a "Free Trial", perhaps with certain components disabled, or on a timed trial basis, after which components become disabled all the whole package becomes disabled.

Have a look at some of Download.com's free or free trial software listings, and see how others do this.
