Downloading JetAudio from download.com

Does the maker of JetAudio throttle down the downloading of JetAudio Basic from download.com?

Since at least JetAudio Basic 8.04 and now 8.05, the rate at which downloading the installation program proceeds rivals that of dial-up days. IN fact, as I have been writing this post, the estimated download time has remained at over an hour to complete. (I downloaded a ubuntu ISO in just a matter of minutes.)

I do not see this with any other programs I download from download.com. I have tried at different times of the day to no avail. I am NOT trying to download using an accelerator like Free Download Mgr.

Is anyone else experiencing this, too, or am I the only one?

If this is something intentional on JetAudio's part then, it is likely they will lose customers/users because of this.

It's not JetAudio that is throttling the bandwidth but I sometimes find CNET downloads very slow as well.

If it happens to me and it is persistent, I will attempt to connect to the developer's web site itself and download from there.

I think, (but I may be wrong), that it is a question of the volume of files being downloaded from Download.com at any one time.

It took me over an hour on my cable ISP to download this latest version of JetAudio. No other program that I have downloaded from here has exhibited such slow, dial-up-like download speeds.

Going to the JetAudio site is a non-starter as they direct you and me right back here! That, in fact, is why I asked about this.

Yes that is always a risk where the developer links back to Download.com

I think you were just unlucky that you got caught in a stream that wasn't very fast, but as I say, developers have no control over download speeds at Download.com.

I hope you find the software satisfactory, now you have completed the download.

Consistently Slow Downlaod of JetAudio

The slow download was not a once and done thing. I never did download 8.04 because each time I tried, it creeped along like molasses in winter. It was because 8.05 exhibited similarly slow download speeds that I sought to bring it to someone's attention.
