cyberlink power director crashing

I have been using cyberlink power director Ver 8 on a 6 1/2 year old computer with win XP pro. It would usually crash about once per hour of use. I just bought a new computer with a much faster processor, 16 GB ram and windows 7 pro 64 bit. My version of power director would not work well at all on the new computer. Crashing all the time and output files corrupted. Working with their customer service people is a waist of time. I happened to go in to amazon.com to check prices of the latest power director just in case that upgrading would eliminate my problems. I happened to look at their reviews. Power director got the worst reviews of any software that I have seen recently. And Norton insight reports that the version I have is "unstable".
Have any forum members has similar problems with power director?
How about Adobe Premier Elements? I was using Premier Elements before power director. Ths only reason I switched was that at the time, Adobe had some limitations working with High Def Video. That isn't true now.
