Filling in the 'Title' tag of an mp3 based on its filename
by TripTripTrip - 10/7/12 3:05 AM
I am in the process of transferring a large number of recorded lectures from CDs and tape to mp3s.
I have already divided each lecture into tracks and created an mp3 for each track.
Using Windows 7, it is fairly easy to select all the tracks for a given lecture and then enter the "Album Artist" (professor), "Album" (lecture topic) and "Year" (year) details in a single step.
Unfortunately, I still must type the "Title" of each track individually. Since there are many, many tracks, and the "Title" of each track is already embedded in its filename, I am hoping there is some way to speed up this process.
For example, a hypothetical lecture might contain four tracks:
Professor's_Lecture_01 Introduction.mp3
Professor's_Lecture_02 Historical background.mp3
Professor's_Lecture_03 Future directions.mp3
Professor's_Lecture_04 Conclusions.mp3
At the end of the conversion process I would like, at a minimum, the "Title" fields in the mp3s to read:
Professor's_Lecture_01 Introduction
Professor's_Lecture_02 Historical background
Professor's_Lecture_03 Future directions
Professor's_Lecture_04 Conclusions
Even better would be if I could end up with this:
Introduction to the topic
A look at a history of the topic
Some thoughts about the future
Conclusions
I am hoping that there's a program that either does batch tagging/massaging or allows me to edit/copy/move "columns" of tags. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks for your help,
Trip
